Aims

To enable budget holders from a non-accounting background to plan, prepare and report on their budgets effectively and with confidence.

Programme overview

This programme is designed for people who either feel they do not know what accountants expect of them from a budget, or find it difficult to explain and reconcile their budget numbers when asked by managers.

After attending this programme you will be able to:
	Understand the steps in a budgeting process
	Distinguish between a master budget and a departmental budget
	Appreciate the importance of the budget plan and good communication
	Develop an understanding of your business’s budgeting process
	Prepare and monitor a departmental budget
	Use the budget to measure performance and identify cost savings

	Budgeting basics – why budget and how to plan
	Different approaches and types of budget
	Preparing the departmental budget
	Comparing actual performance with the plan and reporting performance
